Richard III opens at Hull Truck Theatre today (4 May) – with director Barrie Rutter taking the play that launched his theatre company 25 years ago back home for City of Culture year.
It’s a fitting way to celebrate Northern Broadsides’ milestone, bringing the company back to its roots to perform the same play it staged in a Hull Marina boatshed shortly after it was founded by Rutter in 1992.
KCOM Culture spoke to Rutter and filmed at Richard III rehearsals to give an insight into his version of William Shakespeare’s famous tale.
