On this Day: Circus brings a taste of the macabre to Hull

4

Circus of Horrors, semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent in 2011, is an amazing mix of the world’s most bizarre, brave and beautiful circus acts. They performed on this day in Hull as part of Hull UK City of Culture.

A show not for the faint-hearted flung open its anarchic doors on this day in 2017 when The Circus of Horrors pitched up in Hull.

The show was described by its performers as “the latest incarnation from the experts in freak show is a nerve-jangling trip down the rabbit hole to Horrorland” and featured sword swallowers, fire breathers, malevolent clowns and its “undead ringmaster” Dr Haze.

Relic, leader of the circus Clowns, said: “I think in the case of the Circus of Horrors, people love to be scared. We all like a good horror movie, we all like a good scare. So if you like circus and like horror you are in the right place.”
