A year to remember for KCOM in the Community

Find out what we got up to in 2019

As 2019 draws to a close it’s been another busy year for KCOM in the Community.

Our volunteers have enjoyed a hectic year visiting schools, teaching youngsters about the internet, helping people learn digital skills and keeping our customers and their families safe online.

Among our highlights of 2019 were visiting 22 primary schools with our Simnet activity days, seeing the soar-away success of our KCOM Kits scheme to provide youth teams with full football strips, donating 12 community grants to worthy community groups and donating the equivalent of 215 volunteer days to local good causes. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

KCOM community coordinator Brendon Smurthwaite said: “It’s been another brilliant year when KCOM employees have really stepped up to the plate to contribute to the Hull and East Yorkshire community – and we’ve enjoyed every minute.

“Seeing our efforts make a tangible difference to people’s lives across the region has been a hugely rewarding experience and we can promise that, just like in the past 12 months, we’ll be back in 2020 to help out wherever we can in our local community.”
