Family hunts down luxury chocolate hamper on KCOM trail

2

The James family from Hull have had an egg-cellent start to the week after scooping the top prize in KCOM’s Easter hunt.

Mum Rachel and youngsters Jessica, Reece and Jake, of west Hull, took part in the hunt around Hull’s revamped Trinity Market during the school holidays - and have now won a hamper of luxury chocolate from Cocoa chocolatiers, on Humber Street.

Rachel, said: “It’s brilliant. We really enjoyed doing the trail around Trinity Market and it was a fun way to entertain the kids during the holiday. The market looks really nice now with all its new stalls so it was a fun way to spend the day.”

The biggest problem now facing the family is who’s going to eat all the chocolate with 10-year-old Jess, eight-year-old Reece and six-year-old Jake all calling dibs on the hamper of bespoke mini eggs, fudge and chocolate bars.

Jake, who was on the way to the dentist when the family collected the hamper, said: “I’m going to eat it all by myself – after the dentist.”

For the Easter trail KCOM teamed up with Hull’s new £3m Trinity Market to scatter letters around stalls throughout the market.

Every child who took part in the trail received chocolate bunnies.

Hull Old Town project officer Lucy Lines, said: “KCOM’s oldest K1 phone box in Hull is situated in Trinity Market and it’s such a great piece of Hull’s History. Teaming up was great fun with KCOM, particularly to engage children and families from Hull at Easter time.

“Many thanks to Debbie’s Sweet Cabin in the market who helped to source chocolate bunnies for each child taking part in the Easter egg and cream phone box trail. We had a great response to the event and we hope we can team up again with KCOM.”

The James clan was one of dozens of families who took part in the market’s letter trail, which culminated at KCOM’s vintage K1 phone box.

The K1, which dates from the 1920s, is one of the oldest surviving phone boxes in the UK and marks the start of KCOM’s own city centre phone box trail.

The trail follows a route taking in KCOM’s iconic cream K6 phone boxes in some of the city centre’s most historic locations.
