Iconic cream Hull phone box stars in fundraising calendar
A calendar featuring Ringo the cream telephone box is set to make walls across Hull and East Yorkshire a little brighter in 2018.
Would you tuck into a Humber Humbug, a Tenfoot Toffee or a Phone Box Choc?
These are just three of hundreds of imaginative suggestions thought up by the public for a new flavour of sweet that captures the essence of Hull.
The search has been launched by KCOM which plans to take the three most ‘Ull flavour ideas and turn them into real sweets.
Cathy Phillips, KCOM’s chief marketing officer, said: “We are delighted with the response we’ve had to our appeal for distinctly Hull flavours. Hundreds of people visited our stand at the Freedom Festival and have posted their suggestions online, giving us some brilliant ideas for flavours that really sum up people’s affection for Hull.”
Other Hull-evoking flavours submitted so far include a sweet named after Spiders nightclub’ infamous cocktail the Pangalactic Gargle Blaster, as well as the Dead Tasty Blueberry Bod, the Reckitts Blue Intensely Minty Chew and the honey-flavoured Bee Lady Bon Bon.
If you haven’t sent in your idea yet there is still time to get involved with the closing date for entries on Sunday, 30 September.
Three winners will see their ideas turned into real sweets and will be given a sweet-toothed supply of their distinctly Hull confectionery creation.
The search is part of the launch of KCOM’s new Pick and Mix range of broadband packages.
Pick and Mix enables customers to choose the speed and data that best suits their needs, with the option of adding a call package on top.
As well as creating new sweets instilled with the essence of Hull, KCOM is giving eight of its famous cream phone boxes a colourful Pick and Mix makeover. Several of its vans will also be sporting new pick and mix-inspired livery.
To submit your sweet suggestion visit the KCOM Carr Lane service centre on Saturday or do it online at https://www.kcomhome.com/products/broadband/pick-and-mix/competition/
