KCOM removes all data usage limits to support customers during Coronavirus outbreak

1

KCOM has removed all data caps from home broadband packages until further notice as part of measures to help its customers through the Coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month the Hull-based internet provider said it was temporarily removing data usage limits for home working activities such as video calls and the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) as well as general web browsing activities, to make it easier for customers to work from home and access key updates about the Coronavirus, NHS information and advice.

Now it has taken a step further and, with effect from 3pm on Tuesday 31 March, has removed data caps from all its home broadband packages with fixed usage allowances.

KCOM managing director Sean Royce said: “With most people confined to home for the weeks ahead we know customers on fixed data broadband packages may be worried about going over their monthly data limit.

“With many households facing financial pressures due to Coronavirus we want to do what we can to support our customers when it’s more important than ever for them to stay connected – whether that’s to stay in touch with friends and family, work from home, do school work or access vital information and advice or sources of entertainment.

“We hope this will help make the Government’s stay at home measures easier to cope with.”

The move means that as well as unlimited use of home working applications like Skype, virtual private networking (VPN) and email, customers on fixed data broadband packages now also have unlimited access to online gaming, media streaming and media downloading at no additional cost beyond the normal monthly charge for their service.

KCOM’s home broadband packages with fixed data allowances have been temporarily withdrawn from sale while data limits are removed across the board.

KCOM has written to customers benefiting from this measure and will notify them before their data limits are restored. Customers with questions about their broadband package can contact KCOM’s customer service team on 01482 602555.
