Recycled mobile phones find a new home

2

KCOM has backed Preston Road Women’s Centre by donating 50 mobile phones for the charity’s use.

The centre, which opened in 2004, offers a wide range of education, support and housing services to hundreds of families each year.

As part of that, it provides support for victims of domestic abuse and the mobile phones will be donated to vulnerable women who use the service.

Ann Clarkson, Centre Coordinator at Preston Road Women’s Centre, said:

“These mobile phones will help us to provide a vital safety measure for some of the families we support. We really appreciate the generosity of the team at KCOM.”

Brendon Smurthwaite, KCOM Community Coordinator, added:

“Ann and her team do an amazing job at the centre and when we were asked for support we were only too pleased to help.

“We recently updated our business mobile phones, so had plenty of handsets which would have gone for recycling.

“We’re delighted that the charity is able to put them to good use.”
