Comic artist Gareth gets connected with Lightstream
Thanks to online working, artists and writers who live in different parts of the world can collaborate in ways that would have been impossible just a short time ago
Since going ultrafast, Dann's YouTubing potential has skyrocketed
When you have 10,000 subscribers to your YouTube channel it has to be slick, smooth and problem free.
That’s why Dann Cook recommends KCOM’s ultrafast Lightstream broadband. With 200Mbps download and 30Mbps upload speeds Dann’s full fibre connection means he can stream, surf and game all at the same time with no hassle.
Dann, 33, of west Hull, has more than 10,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel Just Dann and regularly streams videos of himself playing games such as Resident Evil 2 and Tomb Raider to followers world-wide.
And since getting Lightstream, his YouTubing potential has skyrocketed.
“When I had the old copper line broadband it would take about four hours or more to upload a video,” says Dann. “Now, with Lightstream, I can do it in full-blown HD in about 20 minutes. The difference is huge. It saves a lot of time.
“It’s so easy to do. I don’t have to worry about any lagging or any broadband issues. It’s just there, it works and it’s really fast.
“Now I have people in other parts of the world who complain because their machines and broadband can’t cope with the HD streaming – I have to stream in lower res so they can keep up.
“I’ve been playing a lot of Tomb Raider online recently with my friend who lives in London and his broadband drops out every now and again whereas in Hull we’re fine. It never drops out.
“I would definitely recommend Lightstream if you’re a gamer playing Fortnite or Apex Legends, it makes a huge difference. There’s no lagging or drop outs – it’s how your broadband should be.”
When he’s not gaming Dann likes to kick back by watching Netflix and all the usual online surfing.
“We can have three or four devices running at the same time, streaming Netflix, downloading game updates and surfing online and it all works fine. There’s no buffering. My next big thing is getting my Twitch channel up and running and I’m sure my broadband will be up to it.”
