The idea for the now UK-wide centre came about when a group of new parents with a love for climbing decided to bring the outdoors indoors, creating a place where the sport was accessible to everyone.
When you first step into the adventure venue, the vibrancy of the place really hits you. Flanked with 26 multi-coloured climbing walls, the engaging environment is welcoming to all ages and abilities.
It’s a great way to kill a few hours with your family at the weekend, or even give your little ones a break from the shopping.
The main attraction is of course the range of climbing walls, some of which tower 25-feet above the soft ground. So, whether you’re a complete beginner or already have a passion for the sport, you can try out plenty of challenging climbs.
Why not take on the terrifying Twister, spine-tingling SkyScraper and finish off on the Vertical Drop Slide? What’s more, there are over 70 ways to scale the panels, meaning no matter how often you visit, there are always new routes to investigate.
It all might seem a bit hair-raising, particularly for a Sunday afternoon venture, but the automatic belay devices ensure that you can safely climb and then gently descend to the ground at your leisure.
For the younger ones, Rock Up Hull has an under 8s area furnished with soft play equipment, swings, slides and ball pools. Then there’s the baby section, specially designed for little ones under two to enjoy. Close by is a handy cafe, where parents can indulge in a cup of tea and a snack whilst their children let off some steam.
On the menu you’ll find a range of quality coffees and hot drinks, plus tasty offerings for both lunch and dinner. We recommend the Romana pizza, hearty soup and chocolate-covered churros. It’s a fantastic way to take a midweek break from cooking or celebrate a special occasion.
If you have a birthday coming up, wonderful parties can be organised by Rock Up Hull. And with it all taking place indoors, you won’t have to worry about the weather spoiling the celebrations.
