YouTube personality joins UK eSports organisation, the Lightning Pandas

Call of Duty player Doug “Censor” Martin, who is known for his popular content on YouTube, has joined the Lightning Pandas. He now plays alongside Jevon 'Goonjar' Gooljar-Lim, Mathew 'Royalty' Faithfull and John 'Xotic' Bruno after replacing Nicholas "Proto" Maldonado.

 

No BAFTA award for eSports this year

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has recently announced the Games Awards categories and nominees; however, eSports isn’t included this time.

After two years of including an AMD Esports Audience Award, the BAFTAs have decided to drop the category whilst it reviews how best to represent the genre.

The reason given was that eSports doesn’t quite match up to what BAFTA celebrates, which is creativity and excellence in the craft of game development. Instead, eSports is much more than that, a spokesperson told Esports News UK

 

Hello, Aura

A new UK-based eSports organisation has recently emerged after Jordane “ThatOneGirl” Keddie decided that a safe space was needed for people to meet others with the same interests.

Aura aims to be a place for gamers to compete, find teams and duos and even share content and connect with editors, designers and sales managers.

Currently, the platform has Overwatch and Fortnite but is also looking for people to play Brawlhalla, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

 

Red Bull reveals more about its gaming sphere

A new gamer space, which promises to be the largest public eSports studio in the country, is set to open later this month in Shoreditch, London. The new venue will host gaming communities, a range of events and workshops, plus in-house leader boards that track the top eSports players.

 

First ever $1m Dota 2 Major and ESL One comes to UK

ESL One Birmingham recently confirmed the exciting event that is to be held at Arena Birmingham from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 May 2018. Twelve teams will battle it out, whilst thousands of eSports enthusiasts are set to flock to the venue.

The tickets went on sale on Thursday 15 March and sold out within the first five minutes. However, fans are expected to have another chance to gain admission to this spectacular event very soon.

 

Team ENYX win the first Rainbow Six Siege

The ESL Rainbow Six Siege Premiership was held on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March. Four teams turned up to go head-to-head and Team ENYX were eventually crowned the winners after defeating Horizon Union.
