Pokemon Go

Though the worldwide craze for Pokemon Go seemed to die down sometime last year, countless people still use it on a daily basis. It’s a great app for getting your kids outside, as it combines augmented reality with your actual surroundings, which is tons of fun.

You can even get in a bit of exercise too by using the game as an incentive to go on a walk and see what you can find.

Pocket Universe

If you’ve got a kid with an interest in space, Pocket Universe is the perfect app for the two of you to enjoy during the summer holidays when you’re letting them off with a later bedtime.

Pocket Universe is easy to use and helps kids to learn the names of constellations, bright stars, planets and more. All you have to do is hold up your iPhone, iPad or iPod in front of you, and the app will use the built-in compass to display the same view of the sky you see, except that it’s complete with names and information.

There’s something new to see every night. Pocket Universe will provide you a list of suggestions, as well as give you regularly updated news and observation tips, which you can even share with your friends.

With over 80,000 stars, beautiful textures, built-in quiz games, updated news, lunar phases, information on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, an orrery view and more, there’s so much to explore.

You can get Pocket Universe on the App Store for £1.99.

Geocaching Geocaching is defined as an activity or pastime in which an item, or a container holding a number of items, is hidden at a particular location for GPS users to find by means of coordinates posted on the internet. There’s an official Geocaching app available for free on the App Store and Google Play. All you need to do is set up an account and you’re ready to start hunting. The website says that there are over 2,000 geocaches available to find in Hull alone, so it should keep you and the little ones busy for a while!
