The wait is over
2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for gamers thanks to the impending release of several titles that have been on the cards for many years. Here are some of our top picks that are due for release very soon.
Devil May Cry 5
Starting off with a classic, the fifth installment of the Devil May Cry series will be available to play in just a few months. The gameplay will feature the return of Dante and Nero as playable characters and is similar to the other titles in the series, focusing on fast-paced stylish action.
The story takes place several years after the events of Devil May Cry 2. A man known as "V" comes to the DMC office to hire Dante to solve a series of demon attacks occurring across the world. Meanwhile, Nero has set up his own monster hunting agency based out of a van.
Devil May Cry 5 is set for release on March 8th.
Far Cry: New Dawn
After the popularity of 2018’s Far Cry 5, Ubisoft have announced a spin-off of the main story, titled Far Cry: New Dawn. The story is set seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5.
Following the nuclear exchange known as "the Collapse" devastated the world, survivors attempt to rebuild the community in Hope County. The game is also expected to reveal the fates of the Deputy and Joseph Seed, who were major players in Far Cry 5.
Pick up Far Cry: New Dawn from February 15th.
Kingdom Hearts III
Thirteen years after the release of Kingdom Hearts II, the third installment in the popular series is finally set to be released this week. It is the twelfth installment in the Kingdom Hearts universe, set after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
Returning protagonist Sora is once again joined by Donald Duck, Goofy and King Mickey as they attempt to thwart plans to bring about a second Keyblade War. Similar to previous games in the series, their journey sees them cross paths with well-known characters and visit worlds based on multiple Disney and Pixar franchises.
Kingdom Hearts III is available from January 29th.
Resident Evil 2 (2019)
Brave gamers are in for a treat this week, with the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake fast approaching. An updated version of the 1998 survival horror game, Resident Evil 2 allows players to control rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield as they attempt to escape from the infamous Raccoon City during a zombie apocalypse.
The game is scheduled for worldwide release on January 25th.
Dead or Alive 6
Another nostalgic offering, Dead or Alive 6 is the nineteenth game in the popular Dead or Alive series. Running on a new engine for the eighth generation of consoles, new features of the game include visible damage on the fighters and costume customisation mode.
The developers of the game have also stated that they focused less on the sexualised aspect of the franchise and more on the gameplay, making it genuinely gripping.
Dead or Alive 6 is set to be released on March 1st.
