Patrick Melrose

Oscar-nominated Benedict Cumberbatch takes the lead role in this brand-new Sky Originals drama. Based on a series of acclaimed novels by Edward St Aubyn, Patrick Melrose is an equal parts hilarious and harrowing drama adapted by David Nicholls.

The five-part series takes us through the life of Patrick, a privileged, narcissistic and damaged playboy, from his childhood in the south of France, through years of substance abuse in New York, to his ultimate return to Britain.

Siren

Premiering on SyFy at the beginning of the month, Siren is an American drama that paints The Little Mermaid in a whole new light.

Set in the fictional seaside town of Bristol Cove, a place known for its legend of once being home to mermaids, the story follows what happens when the arrival of a mysterious girl shakes up the locals and proves that their folklore about sea people may not be mythical after all.

Mystery of the Lost Paintings

If you prefer settling down with a documentary, a Sky Arts special is a great choice.

This captivating documentary series tells the stories of a variety of historic paintings that had been tragically lost, stolen or destroyed over recent decades and even the past few centuries.

Now found, these masterpieces are being brought back to their original glory by Factum Arte, an organisation that holds an international reputation for artistic innovation. Working with both digital and traditional art mediums, their team of artists, technicians and conservators display a wide range of skills to help remake these iconic and diverse canvases. 

Atomic Blonde

Charlize Theron stars as MI6 super-spy Lorraine Broughton in this thrilling action caper set in 1989 Berlin.

When a file exposing every secret agent in the West falls into Russian hands, lethal Lorraine is paired with maverick agent James Percival, played by James McAvoy, to get it back. But on top of the usual problems of murderous goons, sneaky bosses and double-crossing, there are plenty more spanners in the works.

With an epic soundtrack and some equally epic stunts, Atomic Blonde is a great one to watch for anyone who has ever wondered what would happen if you mixed James Bond with Æon Flux.

Desperate Housewives

If you’re after some juicy upper class drama but you’re not a fan of The Real Housewives series, Now TV is adding all eight seasons of Channel 4 classic Desperate Housewives to its roster this month.

Originally aired from 2004 to 2012, mixing satire with comedy and mystery, this Emmy-winning drama explores the darker side of suburbia. Taking place in the picturesque Wisteria Lane, homemakers tend to their families and flower beds whilst dealing with a whole host of fears, secrets and anxieties that threaten to destroy their seemingly idyllic lifestyles.
