We’ve selected a variety of shows available on UKTV Play for you to sink your attention into this May.

A Place in the Sun

One for people interested in purchasing a holiday home abroad (or those who just like to make themselves jealous of other people’s holiday homes abroad), every episode A Place in the Sun follows a different British couple who are looking to broaden their horizons by buying a property in a foreign country.

The show has been running since the early 2000s, and UKTV Play currently has most of the second season available to watch.

Would I Lie to You?

Seasons 3 to 9 of this comedy panel show are currently available to binge on UKTV Play. Hosted by Rob Brydon, Would I Lie to You? stars Lee Mack and David Mitchell as team captains, who are joined by two different celebrity guests every episode.

The premise? The teams compete against each other as the players reveal unusual facts and embarrassing personal stories. Some of them are true, some not so true, and the panellists must decide which is which.

Embarrassing Bodies

If you’re squeamish, this show is probably one to avoid. On the air since 2007 and even winning itself a BAFTA, Embarrassing Bodies aids people suffering from a wide variety of medical issues.

With the help of its patients and the diagnoses of its doctors, the show explains common medical issues – especially those that people may see as embarrassing – and attempts to debunk the myths surrounding them.

Born to Kill?

This British true crime series focuses on a different serial killer every episode; some well-known, some not. Specialists take an in-depth look at the formative years of these murderers to answer one question: were these people born to be killers, or were they pushed by the environments they found themselves in?

Time Team

An oldie but a goodie. Time Team followed Tony Robinson and a group of specialists as they carried out a series of archaeological digs, with Robinson explaining the process to viewers.

The sites they excavated ranged from the Palaeolithic to the Second World War, and were often suggested to them by viewers. Time Team ended in 2014, but there are 67 episodes for you to dig into on UKTV Play.

Antiques Road Trip

If you like watching Antiques Road Show but wish it was a little more competitive, Antiques Road Trip is the perfect alternative. This series follows two antiques experts who must compete against each other to make the most money at the end of five different auctions.

Both experts begin with a budget of £200, which increases after every auction by the amount left in their kitty after costs are deducted. There’s also a celebrity version, where a celeb is paired up with an expert to achieve the same goal, and the money left in the kitty when the auctions are over is donated to Children in Need.
